Vacuum Excavation Case Study: Beach Excavation

A trip to the beach sounds like a holiday, right? Not for our Tracked-Vac truck! During Summer 2020, our CSE team underwent a major operation in collaboration with the Environmental Agency and as an all-terrain system, our Tracked-Vac was perfect for the job.

With the project based on the beach with a fresh water lake on the left and the Atlantic Ocean to the right, the lake connects to the sea through a large pipe which allows the rainwater to be dispersed into the sea to prevent any flooding in the area. Our operators were given the task of clearing the pipe once it had been filled with sand and stones by utilising the flexibility and manoeuvrability of the Tracked-Vac. This allowed the blockage to be cleared safely and effectively.

This job assignment was a critical piece of work due to the environmental impact that the flooding would cause, but within 2 weeks, the job was successfully completed with shifts dependant on tide times and ever-changing water levels.

The Tracked-Vac was positioned on a public beach which raised a few potential environmental issues but due to quick thinking, the unit was flushed out and the standard oil was replaced with biodegradable in case of a potential leak.

Designed for use on rough and challenging terrain, the Tracked-Vac is a new and unique Vacuum Excavator ideal for access to remote cross-country areas that would be impossible for wheeled trucks to navigate through. The Tracked-Vac is the ideal solution for excavation work on buried surfaces.

With all the same quality features as of standard fleet, the Tracked-Van has the same fan design and suction hose diameter as the Dino 3system as well as an array of bespoke features.

Vacuum Excavation offers a faster, more cost-effective solution than manual hand digging. A standard Vacuum Excavation can remove 2m3of spoil per hour, while an inbuilt skip can hold up to 10m3 before it needs to be emptied. In short, one Vacuum Excavation vehicle will complete a job in the fraction of time in which it would take a team of labourers or a digger.

Another beneficial aspect of Vacuum Excavation is that it is a significant time saver.
