Vacuum Excavation Case Study: Exposing Ductworks in Liverpool

The CSE team recently worked with a group of Liverpool City contractors in order to expose gas, electrics, water and telecommunication cables under a pavement.

In order for new telephone cables to be installed, the pavement was required to be dug up, but with a number of lines already located under the surface as well as street and traffic lights on the nearby pavements, Vacuum Excavation was the best option to safely expose the cables with minimum risk of disruption.

Within a single day’s work, the Suction Excavator exposed the ductworks with the use of Suction Excavation. This meant that the installation contractors were able to install the new lines on schedule.

Vacuum Excavation offers a faster, more cost-effective solution than manual hand digging. A standard Vacuum Excavation can remove 2m3of spoil per hour, while an inbuilt skip can hold up to 10m3 before it needs to be emptied. In short, one Vacuum Excavation vehicle will complete a job in the fraction of time in which it would take a team of labourers or a digger.

Another beneficial aspect of Vacuum Excavation is that it is a significant time saver.
